Design for mobile first
Most visitors will arrive on a phone, so product pages, filters and checkout must work well with a thumb. Test your own store on a real phone before anything else.
Offer the payment methods people use
UPI, cards and net banking are expected, and many shoppers still want cash on delivery. Offering the common choices removes a big reason to abandon a cart.
Keep checkout short
Ask for only what you need, allow guest checkout, and show the total including shipping early. Surprise costs are a leading cause of abandoned carts.
Be clear about shipping and returns
State delivery times, charges and your return policy in plain language, on product pages as well as in the footer. Clarity builds trust.
Show real trust signals
Genuine reviews, contact details, a physical address, secure payment badges and clear policies all reassure first-time buyers. Never fake reviews.
Write good product pages
Use sharp photos from several angles, honest descriptions, sizes and specifications, and answers to common questions. Good pages reduce returns and support calls.
Make it fast
Compress images, keep scripts lean and test mobile speed regularly. Slow product pages cost sales long before anyone complains.
Set up search and tracking
A search box that works, sensible categories and basic analytics show you what shoppers look for and where they drop off, so you can fix the biggest leaks first.
